Haunting melodies run through Pendant World, the keenly awaited second Deutsche Grammophon album from Texas-based band Balmorhea. Its 13 tracks dissolve hard genre boundaries to reveal a broad spectrum of styles, textures, rhythms and colours. Found sounds, samples, vinyl recordings, synths, brass and flutes are newly added to Balmorhea’s regular “voices” of piano, acoustic guitars and strings. Joining Rob Lowe and Michael A. Muller on Pendant World are regular collaborators violinist/vocalist Aisha Burns and cellist Clarice Jensen, and an equally distinguished line-up of other guest artists: experimental jazz saxophonist Sam Gendel, Joseph Shabason on tenor saxophone and flute, clarinettist Jonathan Sielaff, percussionist Jason Treuting and vocalists Steph Jenkins and Lisa Morgenstern. The album was produced by Grammy-winning engineer and producer Jonathan Low. Pendant World will be released digitally, on CD and on vinyl on 16 June 2023.
