Icelandic composer Snorri Hallgrímsson returns with Nowhere Sessions, out 8 May 2026 via Deutsche Grammophon. The announcement arrives alongside the first single, The Stars Will Dim, released 6 March.
Recorded in a remote family cabin in the Icelandic countryside, the album draws deeply on its surroundings. Far from studios and cities, Hallgrímsson leans into space, breath, and near-total silence, elements that quietly shape the music itself.
The cabin, in his family for over half a century, sits on the edge of a lava field overlooking two lakes, a place he describes as a “mental oasis.” Despite its significance, he had never recorded there until now. Captured live with close collaborators, the sessions favour intimacy over polish. As Higher Plain Music observed, Hallgrímsson has “an innate understanding of using space and quiet to make a point.”
