Berlin-based Costa Rican pianist and composer Sofi Paez releases her second album, Bodies of Water, today via OPIA Community.
Inspired by the landscapes of Iceland, the album moves between contemporary classical composition, ambient textures, voice and subtle electronics, using water and its changing states to explore themes of healing, perseverance and self-discovery.
The album includes “Water”, an intimate piece inspired by Charlotte Wells’ Aftersun, which became the starting point for the wider project. Across tracks including “Waterfall”, “Pond”, “Ocean” and “River”, Paez traces different emotional states through ideas of movement, stillness, unpredictability and change.
