Costa Rican pianist, singer and composer Sofi Paez has announced her second album, Bodies of Water, out September 25 via OPIA Community. Her new single ‘Ocean’ is out today.
Following her 2024 debut Silent Stories, the album uses water as a central metaphor for grief, resilience and renewal. Written between Iceland and Berlin, it combines Paez’s piano and voice with strings, ambient textures and subtle electronics.
Inspired in part by Ernest Hemingway’s The Old Man and the Sea, ‘Ocean’ moves from a solitary piano bassline into expressive strings, exploring the sea’s unpredictability and quiet power.
Bodies of Water also features the previously released ‘Waterfall’ and ‘Pond’ with Lara Somogyi, alongside collaborations with Miguel Murrieta Vásquez and Evan Gildersleeve.
