Ólafur Arnalds has released Like Gravity, a 23-minute documentary examining creative collaboration within his extended artistic community. The film premiered on Friday 6 February.
Shot in Berlin and Reykjavík, Like Gravity is structured around conversations with artists connected to Arnalds and his wider circle. The documentary prioritises discussion over performance, focusing on shared working processes, long-term relationships and the conditions that allow collaboration to develop. Voices and environments are presented with a quiet, measured tone.
“In the autumn of 2025, Maximilian König and Jonas Meyer came into the OPIA world to start a conversation about creative collaboration,” Arnalds said. “Like Gravity is the result. It captures the essence and power of collaboration in the OPIA community and beyond.”
An accompanying thematic artist compilation, also titled like gravity, is set for release on Friday 13 February. The compilation features 15 collaborative tracks drawn from across Arnalds’ catalogue.
