Max Richter has launched a new five-part series on Apple Music Chill. Titled "The Songs of a Jumping Universe," the show explores the hidden and unexpected connections between various types of music, languages, styles, genres, and cultures.
Each one-hour episode will air bi-weekly, beginning 1 August at 1pm BST. Across the series, Richter guides listeners through selections from around the world - from Renaissance and medieval music to electronica, dance, classical, and instrumental works - highlighting the ways that seemingly different musical forms can connect in surprising and meaningful ways.
“Music that is very different connects in exciting and special ways,” says Richter. “Maybe ways that we don’t expect.”
Each episode also includes a single track from Sleep Circle, a new 90-minute suite reworking material from his chart-topping album Sleep. This is the only music by Richter featured in the show, which otherwise focuses entirely on his curated selections.
The Songs of a Jumping Universe is available via Apple Music Chill and on demand for Apple Music subscribers on Apple Music and Apple Podcasts, Listen here. The show is also accompanied by a playlist containing all songs featured in each episode - Listen here.
