Lang Lang Explores New Worlds on 'Piano Book 2'

Lang Lang has released Piano Book 2, six years after his best-selling Piano Book. The new album brings together iconic classical works with contemporary pieces and themes from film, anime and video games. Alongside music by Chopin, Debussy and Satie, it features works by Ludovico Einaudi, Joe Hisaishi and Tony Ann, as well as music from La La Land, Amélie and Final Fantasy X.

Among the works is Icarus, written by Chinese-Canadian pianist and composer Tony Ann and performed here as a piano four-hands duet with Lang Lang. “When I play Icarus, it feels as if I’m flying,” says Lang Lang. “I hope we will see more remarkable works like this from the next generation of composers.”

The inclusion of Einaudi’s Fly and Hisaishi’s Spring reflects Lang Lang’s continued vision to connect classical tradition with the music shaping today’s cultural landscape — a bridge between generations and genres that defines Piano Book 2.
