Oscar-winning composer and cellist Hildur Guðnadóttir has teamed up with Grammy-winning producer Sam Slater, Subtext label head and electronic innovator James Ginzburg, and Senyawa vocalist Rully Shabara to form OSMIUM - a new collaborative project that pushes the boundaries of experimental music. Injecting a circuit-bent mentality into organic instruments, the sound is at once primordial, industrial and ritualistic - shaped by custom-built devices and an intense, physical performance style.
Whilst Guðnadóttir is widely acclaimed for her soundtrack work such as Tár, Joker and HBO’s Chernobyl, echoes of earlier collaborations with Sunn O))), Pan Sonic and Throbbing Gristle can be heard here.
