Brian Eno and Beatie Wolfe’s Collaborative Albums 'Luminal' and 'Lateral' Are Out Now

The two albums grew from Eno and Wolfe’s shared interest in art, feelings, and environmental work. Their initial meeting took place during a featured SXSW talk on ‘Art and Climate,’ which was recently named one of the festival’s best in 25 years. They subsequently reconnected while presenting visual and conceptual art in London galleries, leading to this musical collaboration recorded throughout 2024.

Luminal can be described as “Electric-Country-Dream-Music,” featuring Wolfe’s vocals and lyrics alongside Eno’s production. In contrast, Lateral is a continuous ambient mix, characterized as “Ambient-Landscape-Space-Music,” expanding on Eno’s pioneering contributions to ambient music.

On their collaborative process, Eno and Wolfe stated:
“Music is about making feelings happen. Some of those feelings are familiar, while others may not be – or may be complex mixtures of several different feelings. There are many beautiful words for such feelings in other languages and cultures - words that don’t exist in English...  Art is able to trigger feelings, or feeling mixtures, that we’ve never quite felt before. In this way, a piece of Art can become the ‘mother’ for a type of feeling,.”

Both albums, Luminal and Lateral, are available now for streaming, download, and physical purchase. The exclusive colour biovinyl editions are manufactured with eco-friendly materials, reflecting the artists’ ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability.
