Ólafur Arnalds and Loreen have released SAGES (Echoes Edition) today, an expanded digital version of their collaborative EP. The release follows a short sequence of activity around the project, beginning with the arrival of the previously unreleased track Echoes on 17 April and a limited Record Store Day vinyl pressing on 18 April.
Echoes extends the SAGES EP, revisiting a central piano motif that runs through the project and drawing on Opening and In The Sound Of Breathing. Arnalds describes it as “a coda to this first part of SAGES… a tribute to a melody I’ve really fallen in love with.”
The Echoes Edition brings the sequence together, incorporating Echoes alongside additional remixes from Jessie Marcella and Lara Somogyi. Across its expanded form, SAGES continues to trace the meeting point between Arnalds’ minimalist compositions and Loreen’s vocal-led electronic approach.
