Max Richter has released While The Flood Rages today, the title track and latest single from his forthcoming album, due 16 October via Decca Records.
Described by Richter as “the heart of the record” and “the eye of the storm,” the new track emerged from his collaboration with choreographer Wayne McGregor on MaddAddam, the ballet inspired by Margaret Atwood’s dystopian trilogy.
While the wider work confronts ecological crisis and societal collapse, While The Flood Rages shifts the focus to the small acts of care and tenderness that persist in moments of upheaval.
