Joep Beving Marks the 10th Anniversary of His Debut Album with 'Solipsism Redux'

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Solipsism, Joep Beving has re-recorded his groundbreaking debut to create Solipsism Redux. Set for release on 8 August, the new album revisits the timeless, introspective pieces that introduced Beving’s distinctive voice to a global audience. The slower tempos of the resulting reimagined version retain his essentially minimalistic style, adding further layers to the music’s contemplative nature.

Before entering the studio, Beving spent two days alone in a friend’s woodland cabin to revisit Solipsism. Some of the pieces had remained part of his repertoire throughout the years; others he had not touched since recording them at home in the still of night.

Solipsism was the start of a 10-year exploration of our relationship to reality,” says Beving. “And I’m grateful for what I’ve learned, for the people I’ve met, and for the moments of peace this music still brings me.”

Referencing the philosophical idea that reality only exists in one’s mind, Beving notes, “I called this album Solipsism because I wanted to prove to myself that the opposite is true – that we are all deeply connected.”

Solipsism Redux is set for release on the 8th of August digitally and EcoRecord – a sustainable format made from PET instead of PVC. Thanks to an innovative production process, EcoRecord saves up to 85% energy compared to conventional vinyl manufacturing, without compromising on sound or product quality.

Additionally, a live performance, filmed in January at the state-of-the-art ConcertLab in Utrecht, will premiere exclusively on STAGE+ on 23 August. In November, Beving will embark on a European anniversary tour to mark ten years since the release of Solipsism, performing the album in full alongside personal favourites from the past decade.

Solipsism Redux is set for release on 8 August, pre-order the LP now.
