To mark the 10th anniversary of the original release, Beving has re-recorded its timeless, introspective tracks to create Solipsism Redux. Joep Beving undertakes a 10th-anniversary album tour of Europe in November, while a live performance filmed in January at ConcertLab, a state-of-the art venue in Utrecht.
Before going into the studio earlier this year, Beving retreated to a friend’s woodland cabin for two days to revisit Solipsism. Some of the tracks he’d played many times in the decade since its release, others not at all. The slower tempos of the resulting reimagined version, Solipsism Redux, retain his essentially minimalistic style, adding further layers to the music’s contemplative nature.
“Solipsism was the start of a 10-year exploration of our relationship to reality,” says Beving. “And I’m grateful for what I’ve learned, for the people I’ve met, and for the moments of peace this music still brings me.”
