Multi-award-winning composer, pianist, and producer Yu-Peng Chen has announced the release of a deluxe edition of his landmark album Fantasyland, set for release on 7 November 2025. Originally issued digitally in 2024, the expanded release marks his first on Deutsche Grammophon, following his recent exclusive signing as the label’s first Chinese composer.
Recorded with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Robert Ziegler, Fantasyland is a symphonic suite that blends Western orchestral writing with global textures and traditional Chinese instrumentation. Chen performs on piano, joined by musicians playing instruments such as the erhu, pipa, bansuri, shakuhachi, and sitar.
Conceived as a reflection on Chen’s creative journey after leaving HOYO-MiX, the in-house studio of Genshin Impact developer miHoYo, Fantasyland represents a turning point in his career. The deluxe edition includes four bonus tracks and new liner notes by the composer. Further releases are planned for 2026, including an orchestral album and solo piano works.
