Grammy- and Oscar-nominated composer and songwriter Stephan Moccio has released his new solo album, Scenes From a Velvet Room, via Decca Records. The record arrived on 26 June and marks his fourth solo album for the label.
Inspired by Moccio's early years as the house pianist at Toronto's Four Seasons hotel, Scenes From a Velvet Room revisits the place where he spent six nights a week developing the melodic instincts that would later shape songs for artists including Celine Dion, Miley Cyrus and The Weeknd.
Blending jazz-inflected piano with a reflective, cinematic atmosphere, the album looks back on those formative performances, capturing the quiet exchanges between performer and audience that helped define Moccio's musical voice.
