Roger Eno has released Without Wind / Without Air: Rarities, a new companion EP to his acclaimed Deutsche Grammophon album Without Wind / Without Air. Released digitally on 26 June, the eight-track collection revisits the original Berlin recording sessions, bringing together previously unreleased music that expands on the sound world of the album.
Featuring a mix of solo piano pieces and chamber works for strings, accordion, clarinet, bass and synthesizers, the EP sees Eno joined by the Scoring Berlin strings, conducted by Jonathan Stockhammer, alongside producer Christian Badzura, bassist Tobias Fleischer and clarinettist Alexander Glücksmann.
Eno describes the collection as a home for recordings that were left off the original album despite being among his favourites. "By the time a Rarities collection is released, it's like hearing the tracks again for the first time," he said. "Each one is placed in a position in which it benefits the whole."
