Radio 3 Unwind’s 'Ultimate Calm' Comes to the Proms

Erland Cooper, Isobel Waller-Bridge, Belle Chen, Lucinda Chua and Alice Boyd join the City of London Sinfonia and BBC Symphony Chorus for a late-night Prom inspired by BBC Radio 3 Unwind’s Ultimate Calm.

Ultimate Calm at the Proms

The programme brings together classical and ambient music with soundscapes and electronics. It includes world premieres of new arrangements by Cooper and Waller-Bridge, alongside music by Ravel, Debussy and Jóhann Jóhannsson.

The programme features Cooper’s Music for Growing Flowers (Nocturne), a new arrangement of Isobel Waller-Bridge’s Satie Reinventé, Debussy’s Clair de lune arranged by Cooper, Jóhann Jóhannsson’s A Pile of Dust, and Belle Chen’s Three Birds (after Ravel). The programme also includes works by Sibelius and Rheinberger.

Ólafur Arnalds contributes a specially recorded musical safe-haven to the programme.

Ultimate Calm at the Proms takes place on Thursday 27 August 2026 in the Auditorium of the Royal Albert Hall. Doors open at 9:45pm and the performance starts at 10:15pm. There is no interval.
