Luke Howard's new album, Skategoat (Original Soundtrack), is out today via Mercury KX. Written for Van Alpert's acclaimed documentary Skategoat, the score blends intimate piano, atmospheric strings and subtle electronics to accompany the extraordinary true story of Venice Beach skateboarder Leandre "Skategoat" Sanders, who overcame gang violence and homelessness in pursuit of his dream.
The documentary, which won the GIO Audience Award for Best Australian Documentary at the 2024 Sydney Film Festival, is executive produced by Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk, and features appearances from skateboarding icons including Tony Hawk. Praised by OutLoud! Culture for its "electrifying soundtrack," Howard's score captures both the harsh realities of Sanders' journey and the resilience that defines it.
