Erland Cooper has announced his new EP Berriedale, set for release on 8 August. Named after the RSPB reserve on Hoy in Orkney, the EP is inspired by the UK’s most northerly native woodland - a small oasis of green in the middle of the island’s moorland and glens.
Berriedale represents how a piece of music is written - from sketch to finished song - mirroring the delicate lifecycle of a tree or plant. The first track, Berriedale on Hoy, is out now.
Known as “nature’s songwriter” (The Guardian), Cooper continues to explore themes rooted in Orkney’s unique landscape, where myth, sea eagles and wild hares meet one of the country’s rarest natural environments.
Berriedale is set for release on 8 August, listen to the first single Berriedale on Hoy here.
