Brian Eno and Beatie Wolfe have released “Afterlife”, a reimagining of “Before Life”, originally featured on their 2025 collaborative album Liminal. First unveiled for World Sleep Day in March, the track’s slow-moving, meditative atmosphere quickly resonated with listeners, accumulating more than 10 million streams before its full public release.
Liminal formed the final chapter in Eno and Wolfe’s 2025 album trilogy, following Luminal and Lateral. Described by the artists as “Dark Matter music”, the record occupies a space between the dreamlike textures of Luminal and the expansive sonic landscapes of Lateral.
The project also made headlines last year when Liminal was broadcast into space via the historic Holmdel Horn antenna in New Jersey, the same instrument that famously detected some of the earliest echoes of the universe.
