Beatie Wolfe and Brian Eno have announced their third collaborative album Liminal, set for release on 10 October via Verve Records. Following Lateral and Luminal, this new chapter is described by the artists as “Dark Matter music” - a convergence of the previous two offerings, creating a strange new world that exists between song and non-song.
“Liminal stands at the point of convergence between Lateral and Luminal,” the pair explains. “If Lateral is a kind of landscape painting, a sonic place, Luminal is a dream-like awakening, a feeling space. Liminal, the newest addition, is a hybrid of the two, a strange new land with a human living and feeling its way through its mysterious spaces.”
The first single, The Last to Know, introduces the album’s more intimate, vocal dimension. Set against shifting, shadowy textures, Wolfe’s presence navigates the threshold between the familiar and the unfamiliar - embodying the “borderlands” the pair describe.
By contrast, Ringing Ocean immerses the listener in a vast instrumental landscape. Its pulsing tones and tidal layers suggest a world in motion - echoing the “dark matter” space that Liminal seeks to explore.
Liminal will be released digitally, on eco-friendly CD, standard black biovinyl, and as a limited translucent rose biovinyl edition exclusive to the official webstore.
